This MOU describes the roles and responsibilities of both parties for running a VIBE Afterschool cohort. It is a lightweight agreement, not a binding contract. Both parties may adapt or end participation at any time.
What VIBE Afterschool provides
- The VIBE Afterschool framework, curriculum guide, and all program materials, free of charge
- Printable and digital templates: one-page guide, parent consent form, guide agreement, AI acceptable use policy, and this MOU
- The 12-week session plan, project scoping template, and end-of-semester review guide
- Email support for the advisor throughout the semester
- The open CC BY 4.0 license, under which the school may use, adapt, and share all materials freely
What the host school provides
- Advisor: One adult willing to facilitate one weekly session for twelve weeks, ideally 60 to 75 minutes long (45 minutes at the minimum). May be a teacher, counselor, staff member, or vetted community volunteer with AI experience.
- Space and technology: A room suitable for group work with reliable wifi access. Students typically bring their own internet-connected device (phone, tablet, Chromebook, or laptop), though the school may choose to provide devices for in-room use.
- Background checks: Coordination of the school’s standard background check process for the advisor (if not already cleared as staff) and any volunteer guides before student contact
- Parent consent: Distribution and collection of signed consent forms for all participating students before the first session
- Technology approval: Review and approval of AI tools through the school’s existing technology and acceptable use process
- Supervision: A school staff member is present for every session in its entirety per the school’s standard supervision policies. Students are never unsupervised.
- Showcase venue: A space for the end-of-semester public showcase at week 12
Cost
The program does not charge tuition to the school or to students, and no payment to VIBE Afterschool or Juno Maps is required or solicited. Because this is hosted as an after-school program, the school is not funding the AI tooling that students use during the build phase. Once students enter that phase, a paid AI subscription that runs around $20 per month becomes useful for their work between sessions, generally paid by the family directly. Scholarships are available through the VIBE Fund for families where this would be a hardship. Optional showcase supplies or printed handouts, if a school chooses to provide them, typically run $200 to $500 per cohort.
Student data and privacy
VIBE Afterschool does not collect, receive, or process individual student data. Any outcome data shared with VIBE is aggregate only (e.g., number of students enrolled, number of projects completed). The school retains full responsibility for student education records under FERPA and applicable state law. The school’s existing technology vendor agreements govern AI tool use.

Liability and supervision
The school is responsible for the safety and supervision of students on its premises, consistent with its obligations for any extracurricular program. VIBE provides a framework and resources; it does not employ, manage, or directly supervise any participant. Guide volunteers are recruited, screened, and managed by the school.
Term and ending
This MOU covers the semester listed above. Either party may end participation at any time with written notice. There are no financial penalties or obligations upon ending. The MOU may be renewed by mutual agreement for future semesters.
