VIBE Afterschool is a free, extracurricular program for students in grades 7–12. One afternoon a week for twelve weeks, students work alongside a teacher champion and a small group of volunteer professionals to build a real project using AI tools. The semester ends with a public showcase where students present their work. There is no cost to students or families.
Participate in the program. Attend weekly sessions during the semester listed above and complete a project for the end-of-semester showcase.
Use AI tools during sessions. Tools are school-supervised, approved by the school’s technology coordinator, and used only on school-issued or school-managed devices during session time. Student work is not submitted to AI platforms for training. The program’s AI Acceptable Use Policy applies.
Interact with volunteer professionals. A rotating group of 3–5 community professionals (“guides”) will visit sessions. All guides have passed the school’s standard background check. The faculty champion is present for every session in its entirety. No one-on-one contact between guides and students occurs, during or after sessions.
Participate in the public showcase. At the end of the semester, students present their projects to an audience that may include families, school staff, sponsors, and local press.
