Your role

As a VIBE Afterschool guide, you will visit one or more sessions (approximately 45 minutes each) at the host school. Your job is to share your professional story: what you do, how AI shows up in your work, and what the path to get there looked like. Students will ask questions. You may optionally return during build weeks to give feedback on student projects. No lesson plan or preparation is required. Your real experience is the curriculum.

Background check — required before student contact

This is mandatory. You must pass the host school’s standard background check before attending any session where students are present. The school manages this process and will contact you. Do not attend until cleared. No exceptions.

Student safety rules

These rules are non-negotiable. They protect students and they protect you.

Faculty champion is always present. The teacher champion is in the room for the entire session at all times. You are never alone with students.
No one-on-one contact. Do not meet, message, or communicate with any student individually, during or after the program.
No personal contact information. Do not share or accept personal phone numbers, personal email addresses, or social media handles with students.
No photography or recording of students without explicit written permission from the school.
Report safety concerns immediately. If you observe anything that raises concern about a student’s safety or wellbeing, tell the faculty champion before you leave the building.

Confidentiality

You may learn personal or sensitive information about individual students during sessions. This information is confidential. Do not share it outside the school setting.

Student data

Do not collect any student data. Do not ask for names, school ID numbers, email addresses, or other identifying information. Do not have students submit work or information to external tools or platforms.

Photo and video release. Sessions and the end-of-semester showcase may be documented by the school or VIBE Afterschool. By signing this agreement, you consent to being photographed or recorded in your capacity as a guide. Images may appear on the school’s communications and vibeafterschool.com.

Volunteer status

You are a volunteer. You are not an employee, contractor, or agent of VIBE Afterschool, Juno Maps, or the host school. You are not compensated. This agreement does not create an employment relationship of any kind.
